Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg

CMG Headshot by Stephen Locke.jpg

Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg believes in integrating individual and community insight, callings, voice, and vision to access the highest wisdom of what a group, project, and event can be. As a poet and facilitation, she's cultivates presence and is on the watch for signs and wonders

A poet and writer with a passion for facilitation and right livelihood, she founded Transformation Language Arts, an emerging field focused on social and personal transformation through the spoken, written, and sung word.

Teaching at the college level led her to turn would-be lectures into workshops and discussions; grass-roots organizing led her to meeting facilitation with bioregional and environmental groups, labor unions, social service agencies, and community organizations.

Caryn studied Quaker roots of facilitation in the bioregional movement with Caroline Estes and Bea Briggs (founder of the International Institute for Facilitation and Change). She also trained in community organizing at the Midwest Academy and in poetry therapy and teaching yoga, all of which further honed her facilitation practice.

Since 1995, she has facilitated community writing workshops on healing for intergeneral groups, adults living with serious illness, community organizers, people in recovery, and many other communities. She coordinated the Transformative Language Arts MA program at Goddard College (where she taught for 23 years), and co-founded the non-profit Transformative Language Arts Network. She also co-founded bioregional groups on the local and continental levels. She writes, presents, and coaches on facilitating meetings and workshops.

Caryn is honored to partner with singer-songwriter Kelley Hunt on Brave Voice writing and singing retreat; livelihood consultant and coach Kathryn Lorenzen on Your Right Livelihood classes and retreats; and poet and facilitator Joy Roulier Sawyer on The Art of Facilitation
